In Response To: Strip: Pinched Keel headache! (Chas Bernstein)

The stern of the Expedition Single can be very hard to strip, particularly when using cove and bead strips. One well place sheetrock screw through a strip will often get you over the hump. A little dookie schmutz will fill the hole so you will hardly notice it.

If this doesn't work or is against your religion and you just can't get the strips to stay in place, let the pop of the forms slightly, just try to keep both sides symetrical.

: I'm at the end of my first week-end of stripping and even after reading
: Nick's book, I don't know if I've gone too far but I sure could use some
: advice!

: I'm about 9 strips (5/8") up the hull of an Expedition sport and the
: pinched keel is a dillema. It's impossible for the strips to bend and
: twist enough to conform to the last stations. So I stopped stripping.

: If I start stripping the keel independantly of the strips I've already laid
: how on earth do I get the filler strips to conform to the concave gaps -
: certainly the beads & coves are not going to mate. I'd appreciate any
: sage advice!!
