Strip: Nick's Footrest *Pic*

When I built the Guillemot, it had Nick's footrest but not his mounting track system. Without a drill press, it was just too fussy. I made a track out of aluminum channel, and used it for several years even though it was loose and floppy. It was good enough until I learned to roll, and then it wasn't good enough any more. It broke - the channel came adrift. But the basic size and shape of Nick's footrest is dead bang on the money, so I recycled it and built a new track.

Still don't have a drill press, so the wood track was out. But a few pieces of 1/8" aluminum C- and T-channel and flat stock, a chunk of scrap mahogany and some hardware yielded the unit in the pic. This whole unit will be shortly epoxied into the boat, and we'll be heading back to the pool.
