Hi Folks,

I've seen you all out there kayaking from my sailboat and it looks like a lot of fun. Then I saw the Chewonki design in Woodenboat mag. and figured I'd try it (I do a lot of boatbuilding).

I kept it as a flat bottom simply for speed in building and because I'm not into tipping. I just want to cruise the marshes here and there. Slow and clunky is fine.

Would you experienced paddlers recommend a rear fin for stability (one that kicks up like others I've seen)? Is that what that fin is for aside from turning?

Also, before I plank (yes plank because I used bulkheads) the sides, should I raise the bow and stern more than 2" to keep my CG lower in the water?

Thanks!
