Valclav wet sands the epoxy. A good way to keep the dust down especially for health concerns. But I don't like to wet sand epoxy because the water hides when the sanding has exposed the cloth. I prefer to dry sand outside with a respirator on. I haven't tried using the marker trick but I'm sure it would also work dry sanding. I have been moving around during sanding so the light reflects off the hull the low spots show up as shiny spots, but this would not be as convenient as the marker. Maybe ink applied with a roller would be more complete and quicker than all the squiggling with a marker.

: The neatest trick I've run into for helping to sand a truly fair surface is
: Vaclav's, shown on his One Ocean Kayaks website. It's the use of marker to
: show unresolved low spots, and is explained fully at his link:

: A lurking newbie still getting together the Stuff for a Spring Run, but I
: plan on using the technique when we get to that point.
