Strip: Can I glue while steambent strips are still wet?

I've decided some of the strips on the 'Cape Ann' I am building will benefit from a little steam before bending. Will I be able to glue as soon as they come out of the steamer and are fitted to the hull or will the wet surface cause the glue to not stick? I am using Elmers Carpenters Wood Glue.
