: The CPES soaks into the pores of the wood, but does not fill all those
: spaces. Think of it as coating the inside surfaces of all those hollow
: wood fibers, leaving dead airspace in the middle. Then again, since it's
: only 50% solids, half of what you put on will evaporate away. I put 4.5
: oz. on a 25 oz. paddle, bringing it up to a little over 27 oz. If the same
: ratio holds, a 35 lb. boat would use 4.9 lbs of CPES aftr solvent
: evaporation. The ratio will not be the same though, because the paddle is
: thicker than the strips and will drink more material. Offset that number
: by the weight of the epoxy it replaces, and you probably are right in the
: ballpark at 2 lb. So, how much is it worth to you to know that your boat
: won't rot if you ding it on the rocks and water gets into the matrix of
: the cedar? 2 lb. doesn't sound like much of a penalty.

With 50% being solvents, how does the stuff smell and what are the respirator needs?
