For his weight if he wants stability the MC16 with a throne of a seat might be a good idea, the MC15 can feel tippy to folks familiar with recreational kayaks, most folks don't make thigh pads for those boats but it's worth it for his size, the ch18 actually feels about the same for stability and has similar maneuverability, the 16 is more maneuverable although slower because of its size/width.
