I first saw this idea mentioned in CLC Shop Tips in late 1997. I've used them a lot, and mentioned using them, but it wasn't my idea.

They don't work for everything, but when you need a lot of clamps, they're cheap and indispensable!!

They are wonderful for clamping sheer clamps and coaming rings.

: I just wanted to say thank you to whomever it was that suggested I make cheap
: clamps out of PVC pipe. A while back, someone (sorry – I don’t remember
: who) suggested a person could make clamps out of PVC pipe. I was shocked
: and amazed at the simplicity of this suggestion. I went out a bought a
: piece of 3” schedule 80 PVC pipe and cut it on the band saw in 1” and 2”
: pieces. The 1” are not as strong as the 2”, which gives you some
: flexibility. The whole pile seen in this photo were about $4 !!!!

: Thanks again to all you guys on this site that contribute wise and easy
: solutions!

: OH - credits to Ted Moores for the design, "Rob Roy".
