Today after work I went downstairs to my basement to continue on my work. Yesterday I have done the first part of butt joins. The epoxy should have been cured today. I removed the heavy bricks and proceeded to remove the 2x4's. One of the 2x4's was stuck to the plywood but wasn't hard to peel off.

I don't know how thick the epoxy should have become but the bricks I used were fairly heavy. As a result the finish was quite thin yet held the plywood together quite nicely. I used grocery plastic bags under the plywood to avoid gluing it to the wooden table. After I had done so I received an advice to use hard plastic instead as the wrinkling of the bags might create an unwelcome contour. That happened but wasn't too drastic. I peeled the plastic bags easily, sanded some elevations and checked my work. Everything looked nice except for two pieces.

One piece had the joins not exactly flat and one side was elevated. I hope this will be ok. The other join had the epoxy run back into the fiberglass tape resulting in a sharp edge along the tape on one side. Probably not a big deal.

I peeled the mylar strips protecting the epoxy and prepared next fiberglass strips for the other side. I flipped the wood over and started mixing epoxy. I painted the epoxy on the joins and laid my fiberglass strips. This time I was not afraid to touch them and I used my gloves to carefully 'iron' all the air bubbles from beneath the strips. I painted more epoxy on the fiberglass, laid mylar strips over them, then 2x4's and finally bricks. I will wait until Sunday morning for the epoxy to cure.
