I bought a set of drip rings from Pygmy Kayaks for a one-piece euro. They are rubber split rings, that you trim to the right length and install on the shaft by spreading the split. Mine worked fine without trimming. There is a groove around the outside which accepts a black rubber band or a black cable tie, either of which become almost invisible. Adjustable, removable, effective, and I think they cost around $5. They aren't in the online catalog, but if you call them you might be able to shake a pair loose.
