Shop: day/deck hatch construction

Hello All,
I'm thinking about outfitting my OneOceanKayak Expedition stripper with a day hatch behind the cockpit. I've seen some discussion around Beckson hatches, but I'm concerned that a pre-fab flat hatch may be difficult to install in this cambered area of the kayak. I've also taken note of the BetsieBay option of installing the hatch ring inside and attaching the strip cut-out to the lid for a "flush" fit. Has anyone tried this on a cambered surface like those found on my yak or perhaps a Guillemot? I recently saw Joe Greenley's solution to the "invisible" compass recess...has Joe (or anyone else) ever addressed the "invisible day hatch" issue?
