Tools: HVLP - update of sorts

The HVLP ordered from Harbor Freight arrived - about 8 days from order date - but 2 days too late for current painting project.

Opening it up, it "looks" like the small Cambell-Hausfeld unit - except about $110 dollars less (compared to Home Depot prices).

First reactions:

Looks like the Campbell unit - almost identical.
Has 15 feet of air hose - reminds me of a hospital ventilator hose.
Paint gun top is OK - bottom "can" is quart size but looks like it was made from blow-mold plastic. Haven't checked to see if my stainless quart can will work from the compressed air sprayer.
Being of plastic makes me wonder how it will hold up to solvents
Wife didn't appreciate me plugging it in to hear sound at 11:30 PM at night
Sounds like a Shop Vac - kinda on the noisy side - will wear ear muffs (protectors) when using in confined spaces or small rooms.
Easy to disassemble to clean.
Comes with small wrench and a viscosity cup

This weekend will pick up a few plastic can liners from auto parts store for inside cup, mix up some latex and see how much thinning is necessary. If I can get it to spray latex - paint and varnish will be easy. More info to follow after actual paint test. Oh - it's only a one speed fan. Now, if I take my gas weed blower, and with a little bit of finesse, I should be able to ......! Better call Tim Allen first !
