My plan for a hybrid has been defeated- i was looking for a fast-build since I move so much, now I find I will be in four or five different places in the next 6 or 7 months. But everywhere I am going has places to paddle that aren't frozen (glad to go to dixie!) and I have to have something to do it in, so I have decided to go with a baidarka at bout 16 or 17 feet, whichever it turns out. The woodwork is designed already, I start that tomorrow, but I have multiple questions about cloth. I prefer synthetics wherever possible, and had thought back to m airplane-buiding days and using ceconite or shrinkable dacron. The heaviest I can find is 3.7 ounces, fine for a bird but I shudder to put it on a kayak. Anyone know of some good sources?
