My 12 footer is a real circler. As some of you know I made three foam keels glued on to my kayak and they all worked great. I also have a retractable skeg built and ready to install, but I still have not decided which way I want to go. I paddled a 17' canoe for 10 years and never had a problem tracking so I like to think my paddling isn't too much at fault. I have a big cockpit and so I was able to move my seat about 8" and that didn't help. No load or a heavy load didn't make any difference. If I coast in smooth water it will come about. In white caps and a following sea was shear hell. I could only paddle about 10 strokes and it would come about, no matter how many muscled corrective strokes I tried. A friend loaned me a 9'plastic kayak that tracked much better then mine.
