I decided to go with the skin deck on my Guillemot S&G. So far, it's a ton easier than I thought. I made the ribs from plywood and I'm going to use 5/8th dowel rod for the stringer. Attaching the ribs to the hull was simple enough. Thickened epoxy and a little glass. I have a few questions about the stringers and skin.
Wich would be better; Setting a thin dowel thru the stringer and frame and epoxy the joint. Or tie each joint and be done with it? If I tie them, what's the best string to use?
The second issue is, How to attach the skin to the hull. Someone on this board mentioned stapling it on. Can I do this without a shear clamp? 4mm doesn't seem like a lot to staple into. I thought about drilling holes and sewing it on but, then I'd have to sew a seam in the middle to and, that's a lot of sewing.
Also, what's a good source for the fabric and chemicals to shrink it up?
The last one (so far) is about hatches. Is there an easy way to put one in or is it just too much work?
Thanks again.
