I'm heading to the Hoh Rainforest in mid April - this is one of the few Temperate Rainforests in the lower 48 states. It's the land of moss, big trees (6'-8'+ dia), elk, cougars, glaciers... and rain. Spring is by far the best season (in Summer the rain stops/crowds arrive).

We'll visit the world's largest Western Red Cedar a few miles from the park entrance and then walk ten miles into the interior to setup a base camp. The following day we'll walk fourteen miles (daypacks only) to the base of Blue Glacier and back. Day three will be ten miles back to the car.

I was there two years ago. In addition to the ones mentioned above, highlights will be High Divide - 1,000+ ft cliffs that rise to the North of the valley, the beautiful waters of the Hoh river that flow a bluish-white color from glacier-pulverized rock, the wildlife, Blue Glacier on the slopes of Mt. Olympus and of course the thick foliage of a true Rain Forest.

I'm an experienced hiker but it's an "at your own risk" proposition. We'll register at the Ranger Station and the trail is well traveled so it will be a very safe hike. The group is limited to four. Send me an e-mail if you think you might want to join us.

... this picture is from a five day hike in an adjacent valley. The scenery is very similar.
