you could also flatten the tangs on the t-nut, put a patch of glass under the t-nut, and push the t-nut through a few layers of glass thereby affixing that mess to the hull. I'd be surprised if that would tear out. You can get the fittings that P&H uses from Newfound which are long threaded studs attached to metal plates.
