I have done this with latex paints on brushes and rollers, and have had it work out OK. I think I tried it once with an oil based paint, and it did set up. But I also think that I left it in the freezer for a long time. Now for varnishing, I clean my brushes everytime I use them. It's a little more work, but if you have a good brush, then like any tool, if you take care of it properly, then it will do a good job for you. There is always the alternative of using foam brushes for varnishing, which also do a very nice job. Pamela

I'm just about done with a Guillemot and a Guillemot play, and hope to start
: varnishing later this week. I broke down and bought a decent brush, but
: the idea of cleaning it 13 times in the next month doesn't much appeal to
: me. I thought I saw (maybe on this web site, or maybe somewhere else) a
: technique of putting the brush in wax paper or something and putting it in
: the freezer between uses, and I think I remember my Grandad doing this,
: but I forget the details, and wonder about things like water condensation
: and such. Anyone have any experience with this?

Forget freezing. Clean it promptly, or lose it :( *NM*
