Day 44

Well I'm almost at the end of my project. I have started sanding the inside for varnishing. I also sanded the gunwales and added another coat on the top edge of the transom. I finished painting my lettering in gold and black. About 10 minutes ago I mixed some epoxy and coated the entire gunwales, inwales, breasthook and knees.

Tomorrow I will probably start varnishing the inside.

The gunwales and inwales were still a bit tacky so I have mixed some epoxy and coated the inside of the inwales. TIP – If you attach the inwales then coat the entire inside of the inwale with epoxy (Not only the portions that will attach to the spacers) so that you don’t have to use a sash brush later to access this cramped space.
I have also used the epoxy to glue the four letters on the transom. I used clamps to hold it in place. I also did slight touchups of the red color to some of the seats. I have washed the inside thoroughly but because the gunwales are still tacky I will have to wait until tomorrow to varnish the inside. I might actually do a bit more sanding on the inside.
