: purchase sails for kayaks? Thanks Dennis

Similar to sails for canoes, but sometimes smaller.

Take a look at the sails offered for the klepper y perousing picture on their excellent website: www.klepper.com

David Hazen has plans for 3 or 4 sailing rigs in his book on stripbuilding canoes. Check your library for this; (ask about "interlibrary loan" if your library does not have a copy. Those magic words can sometimes deliver the goods.) amazon.com has the book for sale, too.

Some people use kites instead of sails. I think a small parachute might be fun to try, when going downwind, too.

Simplest rig is a closet rod with a scrap of muslin.

Consider what you want to do for leeboards. a rudder is not a must, but probably a big convenience. If you can move the rudder with your feet your hands are free to adjust the sail, hold onto a paddle, sip a soda, etc.
