: I am going to Norway Sunday for work and will have about 3 days vacation
: after work. I plan to see the viking ship museum in Oslo. I want to go to
: the sea, maybe Stavangar (sp) and maybe take a boat ride or something. I
: am from Wisconsin (very inland) and want to take advantage of being near
: the sea. Any suggestions would be welcomen. - Scott

Strange you should mention this. Just last week there was a late-nite travelog on Norway on the local PBS channel. the following URL should take you to an online version of the script for this. Or, you can buy a video of the show from the site, too.

In the script they mention that 100 years ago a replica viking ship sailed across the atlantic. I think it was that boat which came to Chicago for the 1893 Columbian Exposition, and was stored here for many years. About 7 years ago they hauled it away to restore it, but I haven't heard of its whereabouts since. Hope it hasn't disappeared completely.

Check out the other scripts for the other Scandinavian countries, too. One of the shows covered a ferry from Norway to Sweden that looked and sounded interesting.

Hope this helps.

PS. When you get to Norway, wave, and I'm sure someone related to me will see it :)
