Epoxy: Help Please!! Bad mix on epoxy!!

Warning!! I didn't think it could happen to me either. Even tho I had a system in place, for some reason I rearranged my work bench and I think I swapped the resin for the hardener.

I hate to admit this but somehow I got the wrong proportions on the final fill coat on my deck. After a day and a half it was about the consistency of street tar. All the other coats had cured to hard in under 12 hours. So, I've spent all this afternoon trying to remove the soft stuff with heat, acetone, a putty knife, and a scraper. It still has a tacky surface but I'm hoping that perhaps the heat and acetone has softened the good epoxy somewhat and it will harden again by morning. As it is now, it can't be sanded - gums up the paper immediately. My question is: If I have most of the bad mix off, will the next coat of epoxy bond well with what is there even if there is a little tacky resin left? If not, any suggestions for getting the rest of it off?
You guys have helped me thru quite a few minor obstacles but this is the worst so far. Any help out there?
