If you use glue, it may not solidify all the way through (in thick areas). Wood glue is a pain in the neck to sand. The great thing about schmutz is it's strength -for fillets around the cockpit, etc. I'm not so sure you'd get that with the glue. As for wood filler, it really has no strength -it is usually used to hide small imperfections (nail-heads in baseboards and such). This putz loves schmutz! If you ain't down with dookie-schmutz, you're spooky-nuts! (um, i'm done now)

: Have just finished striping hull and deck and am about to start next step of
: filling. Nick Schade speaks in his book about making dookie-schmutz for
: filling out of wood flour and wood dust. Why could not white glue or
: yellow glue and wood dust work just as well. I have not yet purchased my
: epoxy materials. Or, if the glue is ill advised, how about using
: commerically made colored wood filler?
