I sold plans to women who didn't know what end of a hammer to hold and they built very nice kayaks. It's not a bad thing to make friends with some woodworkers, cabinetmakers etc. Maybe there's a school in your area and you could get some help and advice on your tools as well as a demo. Anybody would be happy to do that and more. It makes it a lot more enjoyable than going the whole thing alone and you'll experience a lot less frustration and confusion.

Even an experienced boatbuilder would have trouble with your proposed date so don't feel bad or rush it - try to enjoy the whole process.
