Strip: Arica's Silver *Pic*

The recent holiday weekend saw a flurry of activity on the Arica's Silver Project. Arica drove down from Northern Calif to help out with the final layout of the blossoms on the deck of her kayak and then we proceeded on to glassing the outside of the deck as well as making the laminations that will be used for making the cockpit coaming and coaming lip. There are ten new photos showing these operations on the site. For the blossoms we used Madrone Burl Veneer. The blossoms were made in two different sizes and used randomly around the deck. The Blossom detailing was screen printed by a local T-Shirt shop (Hardin Graphics) who specializes in small run printing. I attempted runing the veneer through an InkJet printer but it cracked. The blossoms are gluled on top of the deck and then buried in glass and epoxy. The photos were taked after the initial fill coats of epoxy. These coats will be sanded and then at least two more coats of epoxy will be applied.
