While practicing a sling assisted reentry last night, I caught one of the wooden hooks on the belt of my life jacket and broke it off. The hooks are like the ones in Nick Schade's book, The Strip-Built Sea Kayak. After that failure I am thinking of replacing the shock cord with straps. Any suggestions will be appreciated. I like the look of the through the deck straps that someone on this board used a while back, but would like to hear how they have held up.
