A friend of mine started building the one at top right of book cover. He got it stripped from the gunwals up about 2/3 of the way to keel. Problem was he did not keep with the cotour of hte stations and now the bottom of boat is flaired out to much. Hea now has to modify the lower (keel oprtion to get the strips form the keel to march up with the upper side.

It's tough bending/twisting strips of such a short length. You might want to make a small steaamer out of PVC piping to soften wodd to more easily bend it. Also be prepared to custom tril strips (taper) to get them to fit. Cove & beading them will also hlp with a tight fit! It's a pain to do, but makes a big difference in fitup and final appearance.
