Epoxy: Those pesky white spots

I don't know if this has been posted before, but here it is. It seemed that everytime I was ready to varnish, I found white spots from sanding down into the weave a little too much. No matter what grit I used, I always went too far, and sanded into the fiberglass a little, and left a small white spot that sometimes didn't disappear when I varnished. Last night, after sanding too far again, I mixed up some epoxy and spread a very thin layer with some old pantyhose that I had. The spots disappeared, and I have a smooth surface to start varnishing with. Now I don't know how many of the guys here have their own pantyhose, but maybe your wives/girlfriends might have some old ones laying around. Just thought I'd pass this along. Happy 4th of July, Pamela
