There is an Aussie design with just a 7" VCP hatch in the bulkhead for the rear compartment. Very clean rear deck for carrying stuff. Also, very easy to stuff in long narrow things.

Th 7" VCP is one of the most watertight on the market. If I were to do this for personal use, I'd add another one as far back as possible on deck, for ease of packing. (well, unloading )
