the fillet under the lip shown in your diagram may be of concern. It will cause the spray skirt to want to pull away from the lip (come off). It is not necessary as the lamination of the lip to the coming has more than enough surface area for bonding strength.

It was also mentioned that having a sharper lip will help hold the spray skirt on more securely....but you don't want it to wear or cut at the spray skirt.

I started adding a small droped outer edge to the coming that allows the spray skirt to hook under the lip, and the lip doesn't need to be so extream as to its width.

If you go to the link below, you can page forward or backward to see a few more pictures of what I am trying to describe.

1. Glue and glass coming risers inplace
2. Laminate with ash (or whatever you choose)
3. Sand the under side of the lamination
4. Add a final lamination strip, but drop it down about 1/8 inch.

When you round over the top of the lip, this drop will blend at the top outer edge (you don't need to cut a wider strip for the final lamination). The underside can have a light sanding to round the edges.

Make sure you coat all bare wood with epoxy.
