I did my first fiberglassing today. The first layer on the hull went on great, so I got cocky and went ahead and put the football shaped second layer between the chines. Perhaps predictably, it was tough getting it to lay smoothly on the green epoxy underneath but I finally got it fairly flat by cutting in places and overlapping. My question is when is the best time to try to clean up the strings which unraveled from the edges of the second layer? They are numerous and big enough that I'll have to do something before the fill coat. Should I be out there now? or wait until it has firmed up a bit? or let it set fairly hard and sand things smooth?
thanks,
Mark
