S&G: Leaving the wire in a fillet

I'm finishing a S&G rowboat. The designer said to remove the wires (stainless steel) from the fillets, even though it is almost done. For the s&g kayak I made, the designer said it didn't matter. Someone on this board stated that the wires left inthe fillets will eventually cause problems...

Is this a controversy like butt blocks vs. scarphed joints for joining plywood....i.e. everyone has an opinion? I can't forsee a problem, as long as the ends of the wire are flush with the panels and everything is covered in epoxy and fiberglass tape.

If there will eventually be a problem, what is it and what should I watch for?

Thanks,

John
