: I am at the "just about to start glassing" phase on my Great Auk
: and the weather here in Portland (OR, not ME) has been diving down to the
: 40's at night. I need to try and keep things above 60 degrees for my West
: system Epoxy (105 resin with 207-SC hardener). I tried using a 1500 watt
: electric heater (about 5600 btu), but it only raised the temp by a few
: degrees. I looked at portable propane heaters, but they seem to suck a
: huge amout of fuel (10-12 hours on a 20 lb. tank). There are portable
: kerosene heaters for about $100, but I have no experience with them. I
: also thought of possibly using a couple of 1000W halogen worklights to
: generate some heat. The space I am dealing with is a two-car, uninsulated,
: attached garage. Any wisdom would be appreciated.

: Regards,

: Marcel

For about $25 to $35 you could pick up some lengths of PVC and 90* elbows and make a tent over your work area and cover with clear plastic and in so doing, cut the heatable space down considerably. Save on Kerosene, and if you are in need of light, get one of the Q.H. stand-up light fixtures to move around where you are working. They put out a lot of heat for about 8' to 10'. It won't work in a full size workspace, but would be great for a smaller area along with the Kero-heater.
