I had similar problems with the deck on my strip built Sea Spirit. I hot glued in some bridges on the underside of the deck that gave me some more surface area to work with. The bridges were later removed when finishing the underside of the deck. I used the wires to hold the bridges against the underside while the hot glue cured.
