: Ken Katz really ought to chime in here. His Shooting Star came in at about
: 34#, rigged, with two layers of 3.2 on the outside, maybe just one inside.
: I think he might have been inspired by what's his name, Voldemort? Was
: that it?

: 3.2 satin glass seems to keep the resin tally down. And resin is the heaviest
: thing in the boat.

I build with 3/16" strips. My Shooting Star built with 6 oz. glass typicaly weights
32 pounds when I build it. To keep it light, wet-out with small batches of resin in
warm temperatures and squeegee off the excess once the cloth is clear.

I suggest using 4 oz. S glass and "just under" 3/16" cedar strips.

The weight of air bags may be as much or more than the weight of thin
strip bulkheads and flush hatches.

Good luck.
