I also think the Explorer is a nice kayak. Looks like you are doing quite well so far. I'm not certain I like the interlocking buttjoints (I have always used straight butt joints), but it's something to dwell on. Keep us posted. I might build an Explorer or Navigator...if I can just buy the plans without a kit. We'll see.
