I have built whole boats from Cypress. Weight is nominal compared to WRC. Of more concern is relative moisture content and adherence of epoxy. Working with the wood is a little more difficult, since it is more likely to tear out when planing as circular grain patterns are not easliy evident. Pitch pockets are often found in the lumber also. I have had no problems with this boat to date.
