Try using slightly thickened epoxy and really shape and pull the CF with your gloved fingers. Also, the carbon fiber needs to bend around a more gentle radius than 6 oz, so make sure the transition from the vertical riser to the coaming lip is nicely rounded, and finally, cut your carbon fiber strips wide enough to leave some cloth extending below the riser. That will help keep it in place. FYI, I've had one carbon fiber coaming soften when left out in the summer sun for a couple of hours. On my latest boats, I just used multiple layers of 4oz s-glass...PLENTY stiff.
