I designed my kayak on the Kayak Foundary design program, and being my first kayak it is going pretty well. I am up to the point of placing the hatches. Since I have not been in a kayak long enough to know what is a good placement of the hatches, I though I would ask. Is there a good rule of thumb on the placement of the hatches, or is it just personal preference? I would love to hear about any construction methods that worked well for making flush hatches. My plan was to make it out of layed up epoxy and fiberglass.
