To answer some of the questions. Homemade skirts hold together fine and do not need sewing. The trick is to overlap and glue. The only butt seam is at the back of the tunnel and that too can be overlapped. I prefer seam tape or aquasealing it. The way I make the skirts is a variation on the information on the johnrsweet site.

I prefer a thin neoprene with nylon two sides. You can vary the shock cord diameter to match the void in the coaming. Shock cord varies a lot in percentage of stretch but you can find 3/16", 1/4", or larger with sufficient tension to make a good seal. The seal is not as positive as the rand skirts but hey it's a wet sport.

The skirt I made at R2K2 has over 225 miles on it and is holding up quite well. I left it in Chile for next season, so I will be making another for the King soon. When I do make the next skirt I will get some photos and put together a how-to sheet for R2K3. Algo mas preguntas. Oh one more thing. Use the black neoprene cement sold at dive shops and give the can a shake before you buy it to make sure it is liquid and not partially set up. It is a toulene base so take all the precautions.

: Neoprene glue is pretty toxic and flammable. It costs more to ship it than it
: does to purchase it....unless you live next door to NRS! :D
