The hole is about 1" in dia. Whatever caused the hole punched through the external glass but didn't get through the kevlar lining the cockpit. There is also a fairly deep gouge next to this hole. I'm not happy! I can't recall doing anything punishing enough to cause the hole. The gouge I can understand given my penchant for high flying antics. To repair the hole, I am thinking of sanding around the hole by two inches just down to the glass. I would then fill the hole with epoxy (maybe add chopped fibreglass to this fill), then add a glass patch to hold it all together. I will soak the kevlar with epoxy under pressure (syringe) to make sure there are no air pockets in the repaired area.
If anyone has better advice or additional ideas on how to make the repair as strong as possible, I'm all ears...er...eyes. Thanks in advance for the help.
