Hang back? Hell no! Lead, man lead...

: I get lots of scratches and gouges on my fishing kayak because I'm working in
: lots of stumps and rocks. I usually know when they happen, though. I once
: high centered on a stump and got stuck. I had to do about 20 lunges to get
: off the stump. I haven't ever punched a hole in a kayak yet. I suspect you
: are more adventurous than some. It might be fun to go on a trip with
: you...and kind of hang back just to see what happens.

I have been known to try new things, that's true enough. The river here has plenty of opportunities to slide over rocks and get into wind driven trouble so I get kind used to the bumps and scrapes I hear. I depend on the grapite powder embedded in the epoxy on the hull. Hanging on a stump wouldn't hurt my yak, I've done that before. Rocks, big rocks, now that's a problem. You gotta wonder who is goign to take the lead when I start my river trip this year. My experiences say let the other guys show me the way. ;) I'm perpetually curious about what's around the next corner so I'll probably take the lead initially. Guys, if I suddenly disappear, put-out and run with a rescue rope just in case. ;)
