: Thanks for all the help! I'm sure the deck will go much smoother!

Lee answered your specific concerns, put your mind at ease, it'll be fine.

You are absolutely right Rick, the deck will be easier. What you described, I think, is most everyone's first experience with glass and epoxy. It takes practice to do a real good lay-up using just enough epoxy to keep it light, but not too little as to starve the cloth. I'm certainly not saying that yours isn't a good layup, just alittle heavy. Now that you've experienced it, the deck and other parts/pieces will begin to get easier because you know what to expect. The squeegee is probably most important on the initial wetout of the glass (and first fill coat) because you're actually pushing the glass down to the wood, getting rid of bubbles etc, and scraping off unnecessary goo. The key to a good squeegee job, is timing, the epoxy should be starting to set. After that, the scraper is your best friend while the epoxy is still slightly green, but mostly hardened (it will save you alot of sanding later). I'm not an expert with this sort of thing, just trying to pass on my limited experience with these materials. I do think that practice makes perfect and the more you use it, the more comfortable you'll get. Keep up the good work, and let us know how it goes.
