One of these days I'll get the camera fixed... In the meantime...

So, when you're doing gear lines (shock cord) why not just make holes in the deck and tie the cord in the holes? Of course you would make the holes too big and fill with epoxy and then redrill... You might even use a little silicon to slow leaks. Sure, you might get some small leakage, but, heck, -my- 'yak gets filled with water every time I go out anyway - so what difference does that make?

That would be pix 2 and 3 in the photo. Bonus : as I have some pretty dark strips running in the same direction as my shock cord, the cord doesn't stand out.

Pic 1 is of my web loops (as described by Spidey but following John's adaptation of the Spidey method - refer to http://www.fastq.com/~jrschroeder/kayak10.htm) and of my canoe d-rings (similar to http://www.myccr.com/SectionGear/GearTips/RoyalexDRings.htm). Two of the d-rings are upside down and they are all 1" strapping and plastic connectors sewed/glued to heavy vinyl cloth. I'm using these in...

Pic 4 is of my seat back. It is cut from a piece of my cockpit cutout and held in place in front by 2 canoe d-rings and 1" webbing and in back by 2 mini bungies attached to canoe d-rings. In front, well, I needed a way to attach it and in back it works out great - the bungies are really quick and easy to release for rearward access...

Pic 5 is a bonus shot... You might recall (probably not - but that's ok!), that I finished my 'yak with lumber that I scrounged in the kindling pile at a local mill. Well... Now I'm addicted to the kindling pile! I find the most amazing things! Anyway, this is my first non 'yak project benefitting from my 'yak experiences - a table (well, this is about 1/3 of it, but you get the idea). I've got the top and box almost built but will have to think of something clever for the legs...

cheers!
