Epoxy: Gettin' the hang of it

I did a lot of sanding on my first fill coats to get things evened out a bit before moving on. I obviously got it on too thick using a brush and had too many runs and blobs. First I scraped as many of those runs and blobs as I could. Then I rough sanded the flat areas with the ROS, wet sanded by hand with 220 everywhere except where the weave wasn't filled in yet (mostly along the seams), and then ran over it lightly with 100 grit by hand to rough it up. Still not perfect, but until I get more epoxy over the shallow areas, I can't be any more aggressive sanding for fear of getting into the glass in spots.

Last night I did a new fill coat using a new technique (for me). I rolled on a thin coat, then squeegeed, then tipped it off with a foam brush and kept going back over it with same until I went to bed. Can't believe how much better that went. Did the entire boat with 4 1/2 oz of epoxy and it is much, much smoother. Didn't see a single run this morning. I'll do another coat tonight and then see if I think it's done.
