Skin-on-Frame: Drawbacks to Epoxy on 8oz Nylon????

Now that I have two thin coats of colored epoxy (US Composite) on my rec kayak, I'm curious as to how many others have used epoxy to seal the skin. It sure seems to work great. The test panel that I made a few months back with nylon and polyester cloth both hold the epoxy very well with no signs of delam or cracks. Any drawbacks?, other than it may be difficult to remove the skin to replace or that I still need to varnish anyway or that it's too heavy. Any other penalties? How durable is it? Thanks in advance for any help.
