Hi Bert,

A lot of us don't have good access to AYC, so it would probably be easiest to ask Rob what he uses.

mailto:robert@brewerycreek.ca

I think a big question is not how predictable AYC is, but how straight the grain is in the original boards. Not much runout = not much splitting. A lot also depends on your steaming skill...did you go to Bob's steambending workshop at SSTIKS?

Shawn

: I am starting sof (R. Morris' Book),and all I was able to get was kiln dried
: clear ayc. I want to rip the ribs now because I am going to bead the edges
: with my bead bit from the strippers and then soak them for about 16 days.
: First question is their anything i can add to the water to help absorbtion?
: 2nd How many feet (average with overage) Should I rip of the 1/4" x 1
: 7/8"
