I've tried steam bending kiln dried AYC (flooring board) and to put it bluntly, it didn't bend worth a damn, despite be soaked for several days. Every one of the ribs broke during bending. Even strips that soaked for two weeks broke. On the other hand, I've had great success with air dried ash and red oak that literally cut from a log one day and installed in the boat the next.
