Hey all -
Well, there I was this afternoon, pedaling my Hobie Mirage plastic pig SOT along the shores of Lake Erie, washed over by boat wakes, bobbing up and down, hanging my legs over the side into water that is now warm enough to enjoy (60's). I had LOTS OF FUN! Another fellow was having a good time in his plastic Ocean Kayaks Scupper Pro SOT. I had to launch into very mild breaking waves. Straddled the boat, plopped myself down, wave broke over the bow, drained out the scupper holes and I was paddling (pedaling). Piece of cake. It would have been UGLY in my Q700.

There I was thinking....WHY DON'T WE HAVE ANY SOT STRIP DESIGNS? A few of my sit-in kayaks would have been downright twitchy in the water this afternoon, but I was fine in the Hobie SOT.

Other than that Northstar someone put a huge cockpit in, in Hawaii, has anyone done a good SOT modification on an existing design? Discovered a good SOT design? Nick, any thoughts on such an animal? It should be as simple as extending the sides into some sort of a sponson bulge? Anyone got some ideas on this?

Jim
