Hi,
I have a question about fiberglassing. So, yesterday afternoon I prep'd for glassing the outside hull on my Osprey Double...the boat barely fits in my work space and working on the bow and stern is difficult. Long story short and many excuses later I ended up incorrectly cutting the fiberglass to fit one side of the bow perfectly. Everywhere else went fine. So, I cut an additional piece and overlapped ~2". The overlap is obvious but not horrible. My question is:
1. Does this seem like the thing to do. I searched the archives and most of the topics on fiberglass overlapping deal with patches...which this sort of is in essence. These posts suggest to feather out the overlap with scraper or sander once it is cured and all should be fine as long as the fibers that I expose in the feathering rewet out properly during the fill.
2. I am planning on putting on my first fill coat tonight as to avoid sanding if I wait another day. I see no reason why I can't feather that spot and then fill tonight, does anyone else? Anybody have any tricks to minimize the visual appearance of such an overlap? Many thanks in advance.
